Troubleshooting

Common problems we fix every week.

Recognize one of these? Book a visit and tell us what you're seeing — it helps us arrive prepared.

Pilot won't stay lit

Often a worn thermocouple or thermopile, or a dirty pilot assembly.

Clicking, but no flame

Usually an igniter, gas supply or pilot-orifice issue.

Shuts off after a few minutes

A weak thermopile or a safety sensor detecting a venting problem.

Yellow or sooty flames

Misplaced logs, a dirty burner or incorrect air mixture.

Cloudy or white glass

Normal mineral build-up — cleaned during every tune-up.

Remote stopped working

Receiver, batteries or a pairing issue with the control module.

Noisy blower

Dust build-up or worn bearings in the fan motor.

Won't turn on at all

Anything from a tripped switch to a failed gas valve — we'll find it.

Smell gas? Act now.

Leave the house immediately. Don't use light switches, phones or anything that could spark inside. From outside, call 911 or your gas utility's emergency line. Once it's safe, call us for the repair.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

How often should a gas fireplace be serviced?

Once a year — ideally in late summer or fall, before you start using it regularly. Annual inspection is recommended by most manufacturers and by the NFPA, and it's the best way to keep your fireplace safe and efficient.

Why won't my pilot light stay lit?

The most common causes are a worn thermocouple or thermopile, a dirty pilot assembly, or low gas pressure. We test each part and replace only what's actually needed.

Is it normal for the glass to get a white film?

Yes. Burning gas leaves mineral deposits on the glass over time. Clean it only with a fireplace-specific glass cleaner, and only when it's completely cool. Glass cleaning is part of every tune-up.

How long does a service visit take?

A standard tune-up usually takes about an hour. Repairs depend on the problem and whether parts are needed — we'll give you a clear estimate on site.

Do you service my brand?

We work on most major gas fireplace brands. When you book, include the brand and model if you know it — that helps us arrive with the right parts.

What areas do you serve?

We serve eight Northeast Ohio counties: Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Summit, Medina, Lorain, Portage and Ashtabula. See the full list of cities, or call (440) 429-0779 if you're not sure.

Not sure what you need?

Describe what's happening and we'll recommend the right service. Booking takes about a minute.
